About

Carcans Plage or Carcans Océan

Carcans Plage belongs to the small town of Carcans, located on the South-West Atlantic coast of France, 55 km away from Bordeaux and 20 km from Lacanau, famous for its surf competitions. In winter, Carcans counts around 2400 inhabitants but in summer the beach resort attracts around 30 000 tourists. No wonder why! The waves ensures the fun for surf addicts and beginners too. The three surf schools of Carcans (“Les Loubines”; “La Sud” and  “Carcans surf club” located 100m from our holiday apartment, can help you or your teens/kids become a pro during your stay!

Lake of Hourtin-Carcans

If you’d rather swim peacefully, then the Lake of Hourtin-Carcans offers you what you need. It’s one of the biggest natural lakes of France (18kms long and 5 kms large). Located 5kms away from our holiday apartment, it’s easily reachable by bike. Have a bike ride in the pine forest (cycling paths) and jump into the water to cool down!

Bike riding

The cycling paths can also get you to Lacanau or even further south to the beautiful Dune du Pilat in Arcachon (63kms). The tourist info center of the area gives you all the possible itineraries.

Un verre de Bordeaux?

And of course, Bordeaux and its wine area is worth a day excursion.

It’s raining!

Aqualiday located in Lacanau can be an alternative or just relax, read, play together …take the time to do nothing!
